The Tribune Lofts
Cherette Group acquired 101 N. Third Street in Grand Haven, Michigan, formerly home to the Grand Haven Tribune. The site sits at the corner of Third Street and Columbus Avenue, one block from Washington Avenue and within walking distance of the Grand River and Lake Michigan waterfront—one of the most desirable and walkable locations in the market.
The Tribune Lofts is a five-story building with covered parking on the ground level and four floors of residential units above, totaling 39 apartments. The project was conceived to deliver a product that did not previously exist in the market, introducing a higher-quality, amenity-rich downtown living option while preserving the character and history of the original structure.
Cherette Group led all aspects of the redevelopment, including site planning, engineering, design, and construction.

The Outcome
The building incorporates architectural elements that reflect its past, with brick detailing and typography inspired by the original newspaper, creating a thoughtful connection between the site’s history and its new use.
Residences were designed with a focus on light, openness, and quality, featuring nine-foot ceilings, private balconies, and premium finishes such as quartz countertops, tile backsplashes, and stainless steel appliances.
Community amenities include a rooftop deck with an outdoor kitchen and fire pit, a welcoming lobby, keyless entry, and structured parking, all integrated into a highly walkable downtown environment.
The project filled a clear gap in the local housing market and experienced strong demand at lease-up, quickly establishing itself as a premier residential offering in downtown Grand Haven. The property continues to be managed by Cherette Property Management.
