Woodland Ridge & Heartwood Lodge
A multi-phase development that began with the acquisition of approximately 100 acres of wooded land near Lake Michigan, the project was envisioned as a long-term, integrated residential community that would preserve the natural character of the site while introducing higher-density housing options to the market. Cherette Group led the rezoning effort and initial planning, ultimately developing a 400-unit Class A apartment community designed to work with the existing landscape rather than against it.
The site plan emphasizes winding roads, preserved wooded areas, and natural sightlines, creating a setting that feels distinct from typical multifamily development. This approach helped establish Woodland Ridge and Heartwood Lodge as a unique offering within the market.

The Outcome
Following the success of the apartment community, the development expanded to include a 48-unit condominium community and a 92-bed senior care facility developed in coordination with a local healthcare system. The senior care component includes a skilled nursing center and hospice facility totaling more than 64,000 square feet, with a focus on functionality, comfort, and long-term care delivery.
Woodland Ridge and Heartwood Lodge reflect a comprehensive approach to planning and development, bringing together multifamily housing, for-sale residences, and senior care within a single, thoughtfully designed community.
